REWIND .... MN Zoo trip 2010 ..... a bright, sunny and beautiful day! The girls FIRST trip to a zoo! We look back on that day with very fond memories!!
Look at those chubby legs!! Too cute! I loved those watermelon dresses!
MN Zoo trip 2011 ... Bone chilling COLD (40 degrees on May 1st) -- but, we had a total blast despite the frigid and very confusing temps for this time of year!
Here's how we entered the zoo --- all bundled up with blankets!
Because it was sooooooooooo cold outside we immediately hit the "tropical" exhibit. This made us smile! The girls are starting to take their first peek! We quickly realized they would not be seeing the zoo from the (safety) of their stroller THIS year! No way - no how. They wanted out.....and to see things UP CLOSE and personal. So, we took a deep breath and let the "monkeys" loose!
The different way the girls react to things is always amazing to me. From the get go -- Ms. R was VERY interested in the animals. Ms. K -- on the other hand -- seemed almost bored by it. She was much more interested in the people. She would go up to anyone and everyone and just start talking with them. Everyone thought she was just a hoot! I was trying to get her to look at the monkeys here -- to no avail. ;)
Daddy having fun going in and out of caves with the girls!
The pretty pink flamingos seemed to draw them both in!
If you look close -- you can see two chimps (I think). We named them Ms. K and Ms R, respectively!
Ms. R trying to climb into the aquarium. She loves her fishies!Ms. K -- chit chattering away .... "come on mom .... we've got people to meet"!!
It was so cute -- Ms. R was very serious about the animals. She would spend time at each exhibit -- it was really fun to watch her reaction!
Time for lunch!! And - a little REST for mom and dad!! Whew!! This was a much different experience than last year!!! We were on the move!
Trying to get in with those fishies again!! She was so curious!!
Ms. R finally convinced her sister that the aquariums were really cool! ;) They were looking at "Dino Turtles" here...
Hmmmmmmmm....that is pretty neat!
GREAT big smiles from Ms. R! This child was an absolute angel ALL DAY!!! She seemed like she was in heaven!! It was so wonderful -- she just cooperated with everything we did!!
One of our last stops was to visit Mr. Otter. Both girls were fascinated with his swimming skills!
And -- then -- it was time to bundle back up -- leave the "tropics" and travel home ... after a REALLY FUN DAY!
Apparently it tired someone else out, TOO!!
Zoo Trip 2011 was a major success with loads of new memories!
We are truly starting to understand the concept of "seeing things through the eyes of a child"!
It makes my heart SMILE!
With love,
Cuz I'm the mama!
