A very special daddy you have...

My dearest baby girls,
This week YOUR daddy was inducted into the "Hitchcock Society"!

Sounds pretty fancy, huh??!?

I wanted to tell you about it because you would have been so very proud...!!

In the midst of a very busy week (daddy finishing up residency and mommy ... well, just being mommy) got all gussied up and went to an induction ceremony.  It took place at the University of Minnesota -- TCF Bank Football Stadium!!

When we arrived the very first thing we saw was YOUR daddys' picture on the big screen.  Unfortunately it was raining and we couldn't go out onto the field...but you get the idea!!

It was sooooooooooooooo cool! Mama felt very proud of him!
Later in the evening -- people daddy's been working with over the past 5 years had an opportunity to speak about him.  And -- as I sat at the table (with your daddy) and listened to several stories -- through my laughter and tears -- it made me wish you were there with us.  It made me wish you could be there to hear about the journey your father has been on -- and the gifts he has been given in order to help people that are sick.

You see -- I believe that when your daddy was born -- God had a very special plan for him and for our family.  That plan was put in place so that, together as a family, we would use our gifts to HELP people.

And -- as your daddy was inducted into the Hitchcock Society (a group of people that have graduated from surgical residency) -- I knew in my heart this is really only the beginning of his legacy as both a doctor and a FATHER.  I knew -- that when you are just a little older -- you are going to be front and center -- watching your daddy help people heal from the inside out.

As the evening wrapped up and your daddy had a chance to speak -- he, to no surprise, took special time to thank me -- your mommy, for helping him on this journey.  As the tears rolled down my cheeks -- all I could do was think of YOU, my baby girls, and what a special daddy you have.  He loves you more than anything in this entire world - and he is going to spend every day trying to make you proud.

Although you don't know it quite yet -- we, as family, are embarking on a new and somewhat uncertain journey in just a matter of weeks. Your daddy's special training is taking us across the country -- to a brand new place.  Your daddy and I (and all our extended family) are working hard to make this a very smooth transition for you.  Regardless of the bumps we may encounter over these next months -- we will be TOGETHER -- as a FAMILY.

And -- hearing about your dad's special gifts helped me realize ....  we are all going to be OK.  We are along for the ride of this amazing journey -- supporting daddy so that he can help heal the sick.  That is our mission as a family -- and we are going to see this thing through.......together....you, me and your daddy -- because that is what we were born to do.
With love,
Cuz I'm the mama!
