Last week the hubs and I took the girls in for their 2 year well-child check with the doc. Felt kind of strange -- heading into a new clinic ... and not knowing a soul.
Looking back - we spent A LOT of time at our clinic back home ...
Let's see ... there as the 2 week, 4 week, 8 week, 4 month, 6 month, 9 month, 12 month and 15 month checks.
Wowza. That's a lot of CHECKING!!
With no exception -- this visit proved our children are growing, well, WELL!!!
I felt a little sadness walking into the clinic because the girls were looking so cute (in dresses from Nama P and Bapa C) and they were just so unassuming of what was to come (shots!!).
I told the hubs I was feeling a little bad and he made a comment about how much they trust us. It's so true. They so willingly follow where we lead. Pure sweetness.
Anyway -- back to the appointment ... things have changed a little bit since they were "babies".
Being weighed and measured doesn't require "putting" them on a scale anymore. They always cried during this part ... which made me feel horrible because that was supposed to be easy part.
Well .. now that they they are toddlers ... they were able to step right up onto the big people scale and be weighed. And ... they backed their booties up to the wall for their height check.
Ms. R went first -- with NO issue. She did it proudly. Ms. K followed ... reluctant, but no real issue. Not one single tear or form of resistance!!
We were off to a good start!
Now into the patient room -- the nurse measured their noggins .... and we answered some questions.
Easy peasy.
When the pediatrician came in -- we just visited. A nice guy - young and helpful.
He did a physical exam on Ms. R, first. She willingly obliged.
Ms. K -- well, she was NOT happy to show off her clean ears or have her tummy pushed on -- a few tears ... but we moved on.
Next up was time for their one and only angry poke - the flu shot. No other scheduled shots for age 2! Mama was happy!
Ms. R took one for the team and went first again. NOT ONE SINGLE TEAR!! NOT ONE. Band aid on .. and away she went.
Ms. K started sobbing when the nurse gave Ms. R the shot -- so you can imagine how it went for her. She was quite displeased....QUITE!! But -- one poke and some big snuggles from mama and we were done!
Oh - not quite .... we had to stop for stickers. Hands down the best part of the experience!
They were such big girls -- and we were very proud.
Have to admit -- we received several big smiles from staff at the clinic --- it was really fun to show them off!
And -- that was it!! It was really a great appointment and no more scheduled visits until they turn THREE....which is like 5 years away so no worry there. ;)
After the appointment we headed out for a long walk. It was a beautiful evening and the girls sat back and enjoyed the sights. We didn't have any residual issues with the shots and overall it was just GREAT!!
Here are their stats at 2 years and 2 weeks:
Ms. K
Weight: 32 lbs 8 oz (90th %)
Height: 88.9 cm ((80th %)
Head circ: 48cm (60th %)
Ms. R
Weight: 29 lbs 12 oz (80th %)
Height: 86.4cm (55th %)
Head circ: 47.8 cm (57th %)
And not to forget - a few before appointment pics -- they were straight out of the tub .. and looking all cute and clean.
Cause hey -- you just never know who you might meet at the doctor's office!!! :):):):):)
With love,
Cuz I'm the mama!

We are having to find a new physician even though we only moved 30 miles. Not exactly looking forward to it. Glad yours went well!
ReplyDeleteWay to go girls! Their stats are AMAZING!! My little guys are like little peanuts next to your girls.
ReplyDeleteAbout the potty training...oh my goodness was it crazyness. I thought that they were ready. They always tell me when they're wet or if they went poopy, but when it came time to actually sit on the potty and perform, they weren't having it. I think I might have scarred Luke for life! I'm going to wait until after Christmas. They'll be 2 1/2 and maybe by that time, they'll be ready? Best of luck to you and your girls!
