Red, White and Beatin' the heat!

We had a pretty laid back 4th of July.  The best part was ... hubs didn't have to go into work and he wasn't even on-call.

Loved it.

Papa R, Gramma J and Uncle J came early to visit, do a little work (always) and have lunch with us.

And of course -- snuggles for the baby girls.

It was waaaaaaaaaaay too hot to be doing much of anything, really.

With temps into the 100's -- it wasn't safe for anyone (especially the little people) to be outside more than a few minutes at a time.

But - leave it to Gramma J -- equipped with American flags -- she and Uncle J taught the girls how to wave them.

Before long -- they had orchestrated a little parade for us - in the house!

It was too cute!

We enjoyed a traditional BBQ lunch (thanks to the hubs for manning the grill on such a HOT day)...

And then we all took naps. :)

We figured it was really the most relaxed we'd all been in awhile.

After naps -- our company headed home..... and we packed up our little family and went for a drive.

Perhaps ... with destination DAIRY QUEEN in mind.  ;)

After our cool treat -- we spent a little time together in our yard.

You could tell it had finally cooled off -- temps only in the 90's by about 8pm. ;)

And, yes - that is Ms. R .. WITHOUT pants.  Wish I could say it was because of the heat.  She just hasn't a care in the world when it comes to wearing her pants (or not)!

Then the girls had a quick bath before daddy took them over to watch a little neighborhood fireworks display...... (which was 50/50, per usual) -- Ms. K was afraid and Ms. R entertained!

Meanwhile..... mommy put our little "lady liberty" to bed.  She wore her stars and stripes so well, but was too tuckered out for fireworks!

All in all -- a fun-filled, HOT, humid, sticky, silly, lazy RED, WHITE and BLUE day!
