Day 2...Angels Among us...

When you first have babies ... it's pure joy to introduce them to people.  You are so proud and want to share your new bundle with those close to you.  Before you became a parent you didn't "quite" get all the hype. But, once that baby is in your arms you want to "show" everyone how amazing and special they are.

The hubs and I are blessed because our babies have gotten to meet 2 of their "GREAT" GRAND-parents.  As mentioned .... it's an unexplainable JOY introducing your babies to those you love....but for Ms. K and Ms. R to meet Great Grandma Hazel and Great Grandpa Kenny is something that we really cherish.  And .... it's in part knowing how thrilled they are as great grandparents. They are happy to be healthy and enjoying getting to know these little miracles generations down the line. 

The hubs and I truly feel that GG (Great Grandma) and Great Grandpa Kenny are our special angels here on earth. They have lived long, full lives, but it hasn't always been easy.  They both grew up on farms....had large families and went on to be very successful people.  Grandpa Kenny (and the late Grandma Lois) even had twin (boys) of their own.  We marvel when he talks about raising his twin boys.  You can just see the pride in his eyes.   Grandma Hazel and Grandpa Kenny have such amazing wisdom to share with us and our girls.  We know they think of us daily, pray for us and wish us nothing but a lifetime of happiness.  Who could ask for more?? We hope and pray they are both here on earth for a long time so our girls can get to know them even better, talk with them, laugh with them and most importantly learn from them.

Our girls are also blessed with several GREAT GRAND-angels in heaven.  We can't help but feel some sadness that they were not able to physically meet our children.  They would have been so proud.  I can see the Great-Grandpa's (Lloyd, Nester and Bernard) wanting to hold them on their laps.  They were all gentle, kind men in their own way and our girls would have been so blessed to know them.  And...I'm certain Great-Grandma Rhoda would have been shopping til she dropped for our girls.  It was her favorite pass time!  And then little Grandma Pearl.  Although I was never privileged to know her....the hubs' family has told me many wonderful stories about how very sweet she was and how much she would have LOVED to know the girls.  She used to watch the hubs when he was little and he has very fond memories of that time. Great Grandma Lois, who passed away last fall, was able to see me while pregnant with the girls, but unfortunately never met them. As a mother of twins she would have been proud!!  We are at peace, however, knowing that our girls have such special GREAT GRAND-parents in heaven to watch over them.  And, we know - even if they are not physically here with us......they are still here....peeking in on our adventures and smiling along the way.

I wanted to write this post -- so when my girls look back on their first year -- they will know they've had many angels among them.  I want them to know that when they are scared or lonely and want to offer up a prayer --- their GREAT GRAND's are there for them and waiting to help.

And - we hope -- above all else -- that we are making our GREAT-Grands proud.  We are doing our very best to honor them by following in their very admirable footsteps.
